Banking operations all around the country might face a hit on September 11 as bank trade unions have declared a strike due to certain pending issues that have remained unresolved. Industrial actions may affect the regular flow of operations, especially branch level operations, depending upon the level of participation by the workers and arrangement done by the banks concerned.

The trade unions of bank workers had already raised certain pending demands related to employees’ interest and certain other issues concerning the banking sector. As the discussion failed to solve the problems altogether, unions have taken up further steps in the form of declaring a strike. This could lead to a disturbance in branch level banking operations and might also inconvenience customers having certain plans of doing banking operations in person.

Customers may face delay in banking transactions like deposit and withdrawal of cash, processing of cheques, banking account transactions and other branch level operations in case of a strike. Digital banking operations such as internet banking, mobile banking, UPI services and ATMs may still be accessible in case of any bank but the availability of individual services would still depend upon individual banks.

It is thus advisable that customers make plans for visiting branches for business as soon as possible and get their urgent transactions sorted out before September 11.
