Centre Allocates ₹16,173 Crore to Boost Development of 20 Industrial Cities

Centre has sanctioned ₹16,173 crore for fast-tracking the development of 20 industrial cities in the country which is a big step towards the development of India’s manufacturing sector as well as creation of new economic growth centres in the country.

The financial plan will enable the construction of high quality industrial parks with state-of-the-art infrastructure and connectivity to make them attractive for domestic as well as international investors. Such industrial cities are likely to have support for industries in many different sectors such as manufacturing, technology, logistics and allied industries.

Such a decision by the government is aligned with the overall vision of the government to promote industrialization, ease of doing business and employment generation. By creating special industrial zones, the government plans to provide better infrastructure and facilities to the firms.

In addition to making India an attractive manufacturing hub in the world, the creation of industrial cities would make India an even more attractive destination for foreign investments.

It was emphasized that the project will emphasize planned urban development, which includes smart infrastructure, efficient transportation network, and sustainability solutions. These industrial zones would address the issues of logistics and would help firms have access to the required resources.

This project is bound to be beneficial for several states as it will lead to economic development of the region as well as provide employment opportunities to skill and semi-skill labor. The growth in the industrial production will also result in the development of associated industries like real estate, construction, transport and services.

The latest move from the Centre represents the continuous efforts being made by the government in infrastructure-led growth and economic development. As the country looks forward to build up its manufacturing capacities and become an important member of the global supply chain, investment in the industrial cities will prove to be very crucial.
