Legendary Indian actor Nana Patekar, one of the most unique actors of Hindi and Marathi films, passed away at the age of 75. The death of Patekar occurred on Thursday, 8th October, following his cardiac arrest at his house in Dona Paula, Goa. It was found that he was unconscious and was taken to the Manipal Hospital, where doctors tried to revive him for nearly 45 minutes. He was declared dead around 5:20 am.

Patekar who was also known by his birth name, Vishwanath Patekar, hailing from the Indian state of Maharashtra, is an actor who began his career in Marathi plays. He entered into the world of films through the film “Gaman” in 1978, and became famous due to his impressive acting skills and powerful dialogues delivery skills.

Throughout his long journey in films, Patekar starred in many films such as Parinda, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi, Ab Tak Chhappan and Natsamrat and also won three National Film Awards. His versatility could be seen from his capability to switch from dramatic roles to comedy roles like that of Uday Shetty in Welcome.

Patekar was also known to have been involved in the film industry as a writer and director. Apart from this, he was connected with social endeavors, such as initiatives meant to support the farmers via the Naam Foundation. He was not just confined to Bollywood, as his contributions were highly valued by people of Hindi and Marathi communities.

His untimely death has resulted in tributes pouring in from all corners of India from friends and fans alike. Actor Akshay Kumar paid homage to the late actor for his unique talent and acting style.

Indian cinema has lost an actor who stood out because of his imposing presence and unusual performances on the screen.
