Indian Stock Market rallied today on Thursday, 5 November 2026 as benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty opened on higher note in early morning trade. BSE Sensex gained more than 1,400 points to trade above 44,650 while NSE Nifty 50 hit 24,300-mark in early morning session. The market was upbeat amid fall in Crude oil prices in the international market, increased foreign investor buying in markets and positive cues from global markets.
The Sensex rose nearly 1,400 points or over 1.8 per cent to trade above 59,500, while the Nifty was up nearly 1.6 per cent or over 24000 to 24312.70. Many heavyweights helped the rally, including Inter Globe Aviation, Asian Paints, Bajaj Finance, Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra & Mahindra. The broader market also participated in the rally with mid-cap and small-cap indices rising more than one per cent each.
A key driver for the upbeat tone of the market was a sharp fall in crude oil prices. Brent crude has slipped to around $93.50 a barrel after losing 8.7 per cent in the last trading session. The fall was partly on account of the US midterm election results where Democratic Party won both the chambers of Congress. As a result, the hope of a peaceful diplomatic solution to the persistent US-Iran conflict got boosted which is good for India’s import bill as lower crude prices is always good for a commodity-importing country.
Foreign institutional investors continued to boost the rally by adding Indian equities worth about ₹7,284 crore in the last session. This was the fourth consecutive trading session of net buying. Positive sentiment across Wall Street also boosted buying from domestic investors.
The surge in benchmark indices is indicative of improving global mood and offloading of interests in Indian markets. Investors will keep a close eye on crude, geopolitical situation, inflows and outflows in foreign markets to see how long the positive momentum sustains.
