As Friendship Day approaches on August 3rd, we’re reminded that some of the most genuine, supportive, and long-lasting friendships aren’t always formed in school or college — sometimes, they blossom under buzzing fluorescent lights, during coffee breaks, or over collaborative deadlines at the workplace.
In a world driven by targets, meetings, and tight schedules, friendships at work serve as quiet anchors. They’re the laughter after a long meeting, the support during a stressful project, and the shared victory in hitting milestones together. These bonds go beyond professional networks — they’re about trust, empathy, and having someone who truly gets your “Monday mood.”
This Friendship Day, we reached out to industry professionals from diverse domains, who opened up about the friendships that have shaped their journeys. Here’s what they had to say about the people who’ve turned their workdays into something truly meaningful.

In the quiet hum of keyboards and meeting rooms, workplace friendships bloom—unexpected yet unforgettable. They become the arms that lift you on tough days, the smiles that soften long hours. It’s where strangers become soul allies, and the 10-6 becomes a journey walked hand in hand, heart to heart.

At Adgcraft, friendship isn’t just a word; it’s the bond that fuels our creativity, teamwork, and everyday laughter. This Friendship Day, we celebrate the connections that transcend desks and deadlines, transforming colleagues into family and ideas into reality. Cheers to the trust, support, and shared dreams that keep us together.

Friendship Day has always held a special place in our hearts. Over the years, we’ve seen how a simple greeting card can become a keepsake something friends hold on to for years. In today’s fast-paced, digital-first world, the effort of choosing a card, writing a personal note, and giving it to someone makes all the difference. It’s not just about the card; it’s about the thought behind it. That small gesture has the power to bring people closer, and we’re proud to be part of that tradition.

Some of my closest friendships have been built at work. In PR, where long hours and high-pressure moments are the norm, having colleagues who feel like friends makes all the difference. It creates a safe, collaborative space where ideas flow freely and challenges feel a little lighter.

It’s not just tea we’re brewing—it’s friendship! We’re from different teams and backgrounds, but over hot chai and even hotter gossip, we’ve found our little tribe. Weekends, meals, and laughs—it’s never about work, just good vibes and great company. Who said office friends can’t be real ones
Gitanjali Sirwal, PR Head, Micro Mitti
Friendships at the workplace are built on trust, shared goals, and mutual respect. They bring maturity, perspective, and purpose to everyday tasks. In a world where we spend half our lives at work, these bonds become more than camaraderie; they’re catalysts for productivity and growth. Of course, I’ve heard people say they don’t show their true selves at work, but that’s strange, because who you are always reveals itself. Especially for women, workplace friendships are vital; they offer strength, empathy, and become the spaces where real problems find practical, lasting solutions.”
By Mrinalini Mali – founder of Off Script Agency
Friendship at work turns chaos into camaraderie. It’s in shared tea breaks, inside jokes, and having each other’s backs through deadlines, drama, and difficult managers. When colleagues become friends, the workplace stops feeling like just work; it becomes a space of trust, laughter, and the kind of support that drives real growth. Because at the end of the day, it wasn’t just about the work. It was about showing up for each other, laughing through deadlines and tough clients, and knowing there’s always someone in your corner, whether it’s to fix a deck, fix your mood, or just share a badly brewed cup of tea.
Prerna Bansal, PR Manager, Zero2One Marketing
The best part of working in a high-energy marketing team isn’t just the campaigns we create—it’s the people we create them with. In adulthood, forming genuine bonds isn’t easy, but your work friends become your safe space amidst deadlines, client calls, and unexpected last-minute chaos. They’re the ones who decode your ‘meeting face,’ share silent support during stress storms, and turn coffee breaks into moments of laughter. As someone working in a fast-paced marketing team, I’ve come to realise that workplace friendships aren’t just comforting—they’re necessary. They remind you that you’re not alone in the hustle, and that even in the most high-pressure environments, warmth and connection still thrive.”
By Ms. Shweta Kiran Powar, Founder of Aria Communication
Workplace friendships can help to enhance motivation and engagement and offer team members a sense of belonging that supports them in navigating stressful scenarios. Having a support system can be a valuable motivator for personal and professional growth. However, it is very important to be mindful of professional boundaries and not to let these friendships affect one’s professional judgment or decision-making. Positive, respectful, and collaborative associations, even if not very close, can prove to be more productive and help to maintain objectivity as compared to emotionally-dependent friendships, which may sometimes breed biases and/or conflicts of interest.
As we raise a toast to Friendship Day, one thing becomes clear — the workplace is more than just a place to earn a paycheck; it’s where we meet the people who shape our journeys in unexpected ways.
