Apple has officially joined the race for foldable smartphones with the unveiling of its very own folding smartphone, the iPhone Duo. Sales started on October 23, 2026, and the launch has been well received with an excess of demand over supply.

Featuring a book-style folding mechanism, the iPhone Duo boasts a 5.4-inch exterior display and a 7.6-inch interior display. While the big screen helps with multitasking, gaming, and movie watching, among other things, the small screen helps the user interact with the device while folded. Making a good foldable smartphone, Apple has paid extra attention to minimising the visibility of the crease on the display and improving the hinge design.

Equipped with the latest A20 Pro chip and running on iOS 27.1, the phone also supports Apple Intelligence features. With a titanium frame, improved thermal management, and a dual battery design, the iPhone Duo has been designed by Apple as a premium smartphone for those desiring a large screen experience within a portable form factor.

The price tag for the Apple iPhone Duo in the US is $1,999, whereas the price for the 256 GB version in India is ₹2,99,900. Pre-orders started on October 16th, and according to reports, delivery dates were pushed back to January 2027 right after pre-orders opened.

Though the reception seems promising, there are still some concerns associated with the product. The high price tag might make the phone unpopular, and reviewers have criticised its cameras and apps, and even questioned the utility of its folding features.
