According to NEP 2020
CBSE has stated that as part of the implementation of its National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, from the 2026 academic session, Class 10 students will take two board examinations every year. The exam scheme has been developed to reduce exam pressure on students and to give them extra flexibility and opportunities for students to perform better.
Advance Notice to Enhance Planning
CBSE stated that, according to the registration information of the students in Class 9 and 11, it had earlier released a provisional date sheet to the students, principals and affiliated schools on September 24, 2025, a full 146 days before the current board exams date sheet. This early communication of scheduled exams authority allowed schools to review and confirm entries for Class 10 students early.
The board observed that this is the first time it released the final dates sheet for students 110 days early, made possible by the timely submission of the List of Candidates (LOC) by its affiliated schools.
As a result of this early disclosure for the convenience of planning, students and schools have ample time to plan revision, mock tests and exam preparation.
