350 Kg Explosives and Rifle Found Near Delhi: Two J&K Doctors Arrested in 15 Days

In a significant security development just outside the national capital, police in Jammu and Kashmir have seized 350 kilograms of explosives, believed to be ammonium nitrate, along with a rifle and assorted firearms in Faridabad, in collaboration with their Haryana counterparts. This seizure comes just days after police apprehended two doctors from Jammu and Kashmir, raising legitimate fears about supposed terrorist involvement by educated professionals.

According to officials, the recovery was made after Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, a doctor from Anantnag, was arrested in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, last week. It was reported that, during his interview, Rather documented details about the location of the explosives and firearms. Based on his statements, police attended a location in Faridabad and arrested another doctor, Dr. Mujammil Shakeel, a resident of Pulwama, who was working at Al-Falah Hospital in Faridabad.

Speaking at a press briefing, Faridabad Police Commissioner Satendar Kumar Gupta stated that the police team recovered an impressive cache of 350 kg of explosives from the site, along with twenty timers, a pistol, three gun magazines, and a walkie-talkie set. During questioning, officials believed the explosives were being stored for a potential terrorist act, though the police have not identified the target or reasons for the large amount of explosive substances.

The incident is said to have begun on October 27 when posters advocating for the terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed were spotted all over Srinagar. When investigators reviewed the CCTV footage, they identified Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather as the person who put up the posters. J&K police tracked him down and arrested him in Saharanpur, and a search of his government medical college locker in Anantnag turned up an AK-47 assault rifle and ammunition.

During the interrogation, Rather allegedly admitted that the explosive materials and weapons in Faridabad were related to an associate, Dr. Shakeel. The investigation team from Jammu and Kashmir police, along with the Haryana police, conducted the major recovery, which officials acknowledged as one of the largest in the last several years.

Dr. Rather is charged with violation of the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and Dr. Shakeel is under similar inquiry and charge. Officials believe a pattern is emerging in which a terror network is potentially recruiting educated professionals who can aid in logistical aspects and potentially hide in public view.

Police sources say they are still investigating how the large quantity of explosives was smuggled and hidden as close to Delhi as Faridabad without any detection. “We are investigating whether there were more people involved, and what…

As the investigation continues, the shocking discovery near the national capital has triggered alarm among security agencies, highlighting the evolving methods and networks of terror operations across states.
