New Delhi: On Saturday, September 19, the prices of gold and silver remained under review as the prices of domestic precious metals were following the price movements of international precious metals.
The gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) were down by 0.79% to ₹1,51,260 per 10 grams, while the silver futures fell by 0.74% to around ₹2,33,048 per kg.
Gold retail rates may vary city-wise as per various factors, such as taxes, jeweller charges, and so on. The indicated rate of 24-carat gold in the cities of India on September 19 was approximately ₹1,52,980 per 10 grams and 22-carat was about ₹1,40,240 per 10 grams. It should be noted that the above-indicated rates might be different from the actual rates as the gold jewellery may be subject to GST and making charges.
The prices of gold in Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata remained high compared to the prices before the start of the month. City-wise prices of gold may depend upon international bullion prices, movement of the Indian rupee with respect to the US dollar, import cost, and domestic demand.
Silver has also seen some movements in September. In Delhi, the rate of silver was said to be ₹2.67 lakh per kg on September 19, but the rates can vary according to the particular market.
At an international level, gold has seen some weekly gains with the fall in crude oil prices due to the ease that has led to some reduction in inflation fears. The spot gold climbed up to $4,390 per ounce, while silver has also seen some gain in the week. Nevertheless, the US dollar has remained strong and affected the prices of precious metals.
For people looking to buy gold or silver, the quoted rates can only be taken as indicative. The final cost of the jewellery will depend on the purity of the metal, GST, making charges, among other pricing factors by the jeweller.
