Gold reserves in Mahangwa Jabalpur

Massive Gold Discovery in Madhya Pradesh: Gold Reserves Unearthed in Jabalpur’s Mahangwa Region

Geological Survey of India confirms presence of gold and precious metals beneath 100 hectares in central India, signaling a potential boost for the Indian economy

In an important advancement for the Indian economy, Madhya Pradesh is off the mark in the race for gold, with gold deposits in Mahangwa in Jabalpur officially confirmed. The deposits confirmatory inspection took place after geological surveys carried out by the Geological Survey of India (GSI) earlier this year.

The Mahgawan–Keolari belt along the Jabalpur region in the center of India has always been well known for its iron ore, but now this region has another representation as a mineral area that can potentially contribute to the mineral story with its newfound golden potential. Preliminary estimates reveal the newly discovered gold reserves in Madhya Pradesh could span almost 100 hectares of land and potentially contain lakhs of tonnes of gold, including associated copper and other associated minerals.

GSI’s soil sampling as well as chemical analysis is conclusive enough to demonstrate the presence of gold clearly place this region as one of the potentially important contributors to India’s mineral endowment.

Pakistan and China have both established their own gold discoveries earlier this year, so India’s own gold announcement boosts the regional exploration and development of mining and may significantly contribute to the Indian economy, assuming that it can be further corroborated and commercially mined.

While the findings are still at the exploratory stage, experts see encouraging indications that the Mahangwa region in Jabalpur will become, at the very least, a sizeable part of the future of gold in India.
