The prices of gold and silver throughout India came into focus on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, as buyers paid attention to fluctuations in the rates of precious metals before the festivals and weddings. The rates of gold and silver are affected by the trends in international bullion markets and changes in the rupee to the US dollar.
The prices of gold depend on its purity, where 24 carat is the highest rate of purity that can be achieved by consumers. Meanwhile, 22 carat is popular for jewellery making. According to the rates of the day, 24 carat gold is available at approximately ₹1,48,410 per 10 grams in Delhi, while 22 carat gold costs around ₹1,36,050 per 10 grams.
In Mumbai and Kolkata, 24 carat gold is available at approximately ₹1,48,260 per 10 grams, while 22 carat gold costs around ₹1,35,900 per 10 grams. The same indicative prices were noted in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. In Chennai, prices of gold can differ from place to place depending on the quotes of local jewellers.
Prices of silver became another point of discussion on Wednesday, with the price of the metal standing at about ₹2,35,000 per kilogram in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bangalore. In cities like Chennai and Hyderabad, the price of silver was about ₹2,45,000 per kilogram. But do note that the price may differ in the respective localities, so the price must be verified against the latest figures.
Prices of gold and silver depend on several factors, including the global economy, interest rates, geopolitical situations, and consumer demand from the jewellery industry. The price of silver depends on industrial demand from the electronics and solar energy sectors.
Consumers who plan to buy precious metals must check the latest prices from local jewellers before purchasing the same. The invoice for jewellery will also include an additional 3% Goods and Services Tax (GST).
