Krishnagiri:
On Monday, (October 27, 2025), the School Education Department hosted a unique guidance and counselling programme in higher education for differently-abled Class XII students at the Chief Education Officer’s (CEO) office campus in Krishnagiri.
The purpose of the programme was to assist differently-abled students in their pursuit of higher education and vocational prospects by providing them with relevant information on education progression, career opportunity, and government sponsorship schemes available after school.
Over 70 Students and Parents Get Involved
The active session involved more than 73 students and parents. The experts conducted workshops that included different academic streams, vocational courses, and preparing for competitive exams like JEE and CLAT to give students an understanding of future possibilities beyond Class XII.
Focused Sessions and Expert Advice
There were dedicated sessions on common errors when completing applications, and an explanation of reservation policies and employment quotas for persons with disabilities in both the public and private sectors. Many resource persons from various educational and professional experience participated, providing knowledgeable input and responding to questions from students and parents in a conversational structure.
Launching of ‘Vazhikaati’ Guidance Booklet
One of the main highlight of the event was the launch of Vazhikaati, a guide for supporting students with disabilities in making informed choices about their educational pathway. The guide was launched by Chief Education Officer (in-charge) Muniraj, who also distributed the guide to the students in attendance.
Empowering Education for All
Officials from the School Education Department reported the initiative continues the government’s work in guaranteeing equitable access to learning and supporting the inclusion of all learners. The initiative intends to empower students pursuing higher education by providing individualized guidance, bridging awareness and motivation gaps for students and their families throughout the pathways.
