Marco Rubio on Delhi Blast Investigation

‘They Don’t Need Our Help’: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio Praises India’s ‘Professionalism’ in Delhi Blast Probe

Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, has praised India for its investigation into the Delhi car explosion, and called the investigation “measured, cautious and professional.” Rubio made his remarks on the sidelines of the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting in Canada, and expressed that India’s security agencies are very capable investigators and do not need help from the US.

Rubio said, “We offered to help, but I think they’re very capable in these investigations. They don’t, they are doing a very good job,” according to Reuters. His comments come during increased international scrutiny on the Red Fort car explosion that Indian authorities confirmed is linked to terrorism.

Rubio stated that the US had offered to provide support shortly after the explosion occurred, but Indian authorities were doing a good job managing the situation. “They’ve been very measured and cautious very professional in how they’re carrying out this investigation,” he said to reporters, and reiterated it spoke to the competency and maturity of India’s national security structure.

Explosion Ruled a Terror Attack

The remarks came after India confirmed that the explosion, which detonated on November 10, 2025, near Red Fort, was a targeted attack of terrorism. The individual responsible, identified as the driver, has been named as Dr. Umar Nabi, a medical doctor from Pulwama and lecturer at Al-Falah University in Faridabad. Once remains were recovered from the vehicle, and DNA tested, the identification was made.

Authorities believe that the car was fully loaded with a highly explosive substance and detonated with enough power to cause significant damage and kill people in the vicinity. To that end, at least three states, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, are now cooperating on investigations to uncover additional elements of the broader network involved in the event.

Ongoing diplomatic collaboration

Rubio, who met with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar at the G7 event, said the two leaders talked about the incident and the ongoing counterterrorism cooperation between the two countries. He confirmed the US is ready to assist if necessary; however, he reiterated his confidence that India can manage the investigation independently.

“The explosion was definitely an act of terrorism, and India’s response showed strength, accuracy, and professionalism,” Rubio said, reflecting the increasing international acknowledgement of India’s strong counterterror capacity.
