NCERT and Canva Team Up to Launch Free Digital Training for Educators Across India

In a significant move to help Indian teachers develop contemporary digital skills, the NCERT Canva initiative has launched free self-paced teacher training and certification courses. The free online training modules are focused on improving access to visual learning in classrooms and will provide educators with creative and collaborative teaching methodologies for the 21st century classroom.

Free Teacher Certification to Empower Classrooms

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has established a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the popular visual communication platform, Canva. Their partnership launched three courses on Canva Education: teaching teachers digital design skills, improving creativity in teaching, and helping teachers collaborate with colleagues and students.

The self-paced training courses will be offered for free to offer teachers across India access. Teachers that complete the courses will receive a joint free teacher certification from NCERT and Canva, an important opportunity for educators’ professional development today.

Accessible Learning via the DIKSHA Platform and PM eVidya Channels

To prevent any teacher from being left behind, the Canva Education course will be hosted on DIKSHA, the Ministry of Education’s national digital learning platform. The course will also be broadcast via PM eVidya’s DTH TV channels for easy access to content where there is no internet.

Moreover, training will be available in many Indian languages to ensure that teachers from different regions can enjoy the learning experience equally.

Practical Skills: From Designing Lessons to Using AI Tools for Teachers

These Educators digital training programs will teach teachers to use Canva Education to develop engaging lesson plans, presentations, infographics, and worksheets. In addition, educators will learn collaborative teaching practices that enhance the educator’s ability to collaborate with peers and build cooperate situations with to transfer on to their classroom teaching.

A big feature of the training program will be an introduction to AI tools for teachers. Participants will investigate how AI can lead to easier content creation and ways to make lesson planning easier. Canva’s Dream Lab helps teachers craft unique visual and student-engaging learning materials that heighten students’ interest in what they are learning.

Supporting India’s National Education Goals

The NCERT-Canva endeavor will directly support the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s objectives of visual learning in classrooms, along with critical thinking and digital fluency, by training teachers to use tools with design thinking input either independently or working within the frame of AI-based tools, and bringing new pedagogies into schools across India.

Teachers will get access to hundreds of apps and tools provided by Canva Education, with feature elements such as translation support for various languages, educational games, and worksheets and templates for subjects and grades.

Canva’s Growing Impact on Global Education

Canva’s investment in education has enjoyed massive growth. According to Canva, in 2024 alone, over 25 million students and teachers have signed up for its education programs, growing its global learning community to over 100 million users.
