As per the latest reports, there is an increase in water levels in the Mahanadi River because of the heavy rains reported in Odisha. There is a possibility of flooding in several districts of Odisha’s coastal belt.
The swelling of the Mahanadi River has resulted in fears of floods in the low-lying areas, where people have been asked to keep themselves cautious and follow the guidelines given by the local authorities. Disaster Management squads have also been kept on the stand by mode for tackling the emergency.
Heavy rainfalls in the catchment area have resulted in the flow of excess water in the river. The officials are monitoring the situation continuously to avoid any sort of damage. The locals living in the banks of the river have been asked to be careful.
