There have been claims that Apple is about to enter the foldable smartphone industry by launching its first ever foldable iPhone which is speculated to be called iPhone Ultra. In anticipation of its launch on September, recent leaks have claimed that the foldable iPhone will be priced more than $2,000 which makes the foldable iPhone one of the most expensive iPhones to date.
According to the latest leaks, Apple will launch the foldable iPhone together with its latest iPhone series which is scheduled to be launched during an event set for September 9, 2026. Nonetheless, it is important to point out that Apple has not yet confirmed the name, features and pricing of the foldable iPhone, therefore, all reports must be considered as leaks and expectations.
The foldable iPhone will reportedly use the book-style fold mechanism wherein the display of the foldable iPhone will measure 7.7-7.8 inches in size on its inside and 5.5 inches on its outside.
The pricing will still remain one of the main issues. It is believed that the phone will cost between $2,000 and $2,500, depending on the storage and other features. Other sources report that the price of some of its variants may reach $2,900. If true, the pricing will ensure that Apple’s phone will be in the premium/luxury smartphone category.
Besides the issue of lowering the crease on the flexible display of the phone, which will be an important aspect that will need to be addressed by Apple, the phone is expected to have high-end hardware, advanced multitasking features, and attractive design.
As the release date of September approaches, the entrance of Apple into the foldable smartphone market will intensify the competition in this market. The brand image of Apple and the popularity of the iPhones will help make the foldable phones more mainstream, despite their high price.
