Agartala (Tripura): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that the state government is working towards the establishment of India’s first Women’s University in the state to promote women empowerment, said the Tripura CMO in a press release.
The Chief Minister made the announcement while addressing a 64th Teachers’ Day 2025 Programme at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, here on Friday. Saha also asserted that the present government has worked towards addressing the gap in the Dearness Allowance (DA) of state government employees with respect to Central government employees.
While talking about the contribution of the teacher, Saha said, “Teachers are like the roots of a tree and students are the branches, fruits and flowers. Because of the work of teachers, the country progresses, they are building a nation through sacrifice, while also offering dedication.”
CM Saha noted that teachers have to have mental, physical and emotional strength to nurture the future generation of children and that the National Education Policy brought by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been implemented in the state of Tripura.
The Chief Minister, who is also the Education Minister, reported that three new government colleges have started in the state of Tripura. The Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana has scooters distributed for female students to encourage higher education.
In addition, fees for girl students in government colleges have also been waived.
“Peace is restored in Tripura, and many universities have shown interest to set up their campuses here. Our government is working to make Tripura an education hub. Along with the proposed Women’s University, we have increased the number of MBBS seats, and have established Dental and Nursing colleges,” said Saha.
