New Delhi: Rainfall in certain parts of Delhi-NCR may cause waterlogging that might affect the flow of traffic and commuting. Since there are many low-lying roads and road junctions in the city that can get waterlogged, it is recommended that people verify the conditions of the roads before going out.

In the case of Delhi, Minto Road, Ring Road, ITO, Pul Prahladpur, Dhaula Kuan, and some parts of Outer Delhi are the places where waterlogging may occur during heavy rainfall. Some of the underpasses and low-lying stretches of roads may also become a hindrance to vehicle movement, especially during peak rainfall periods.

In Noida, people must take precautionary measures when travelling through the Film City area, Mahamaya Flyover, Sector 62, Sector 63, Sector 71, and other stretches where heavy traffic along with rainwater may create traffic jams.

Another area which raises alarm during heavy rains is Gurugram. Major thoroughfares such as Delhi – Gurugram Expressway, Golf Course Road, Sohna Road, and Hero Honda Chowk & IFFCO Chowk may face problems like water logging and traffic congestions. Travellers heading towards Delhi must first check real-time traffic news before setting out.

Travellers going to or from Ghaziabad must be careful while using NH-9, GT Road, around Hindon, and low-lying areas in residential areas. Traffic movement may be affected due to water logging during heavy rainfalls.

Travelers are urged to refrain from crossing roads with standing or flowing water as the depth of roads under the water cannot be easily estimated. Travelers on two-wheelers must be extra careful while doing so.

Since weather can be unpredictable at times, one needs to watch out for weather reports as well as traffic alerts before heading out on any trips. It is advisable not to travel along flooded roads at peak rainfall hours.
