An advisory has been released by Delhi University (DU) asking students to refrain from visiting the area of Jantar Mantar. The reason for releasing such an advisory has been the increasing security arrangements made for the safety of the students due to protests going on in the national capital city related to allegations of NEET-UG paper leak and calls for changes in the education system.
It was asked by the DU authorities for students to stay away from the protest areas as well as any kind of protest gatherings that would create public disturbance or harm their safety in any way. The university officials made it clear that the advisory had been issued just as a precautionary step to ensure the safety of the students, particularly those staying in DU hostels as well as traveling to central Delhi.
The protest going on at Jantar Mantar is attended by thousands of students as well as youth groups from all over India. The protesters are demanding stringent actions against those responsible for exam irregularities, transparency in recruitments and entrance exams, and resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
A larger number of policemen have been sent to Jantar Mantar and other places for maintaining law and order in those places. There have been traffic diversions and restrictions in certain areas in central Delhi owing to the present situation. They have advised the protesters to be peaceful and cooperate with the police.
This advisory of the university of Delhi is given when some universities are looking into the development of the situation carefully. They have asked the students to focus on their studies and gather information from official sources only. They have asked the students not to spread rumors on social media platforms related to the present protest movements.
On the other hand, the protestors have also made it clear that they will not stop agitating unless and until their concerns are heard by the authorities. The Centre has announced its intention to implement tougher measures against the leaking of examination papers and ensuring the integrity of the competitive examinations. But the student community insists on more far-reaching measures being implemented to win back the trust of people in the examination system.
Meanwhile, as protests keep taking place at Jantar Mantar, the authorities have called upon people to be cautious and avoid travel to the areas where protests are taking place, following all the necessary guidelines issued by the authorities.
