IMD Predicts Widespread Heavy Rainfall in 15 States; Himachal and J&K Face Intense Weather

Given the presence of an active monsoon spell that is predicted to produce widespread showers, thunderstorms, and strong winds over the coming days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall advisory for fifteen states. In areas that are susceptible to waterlogging, flash floods, and landslides, heavy to extremely heavy rains has prompted the weather service to warn locals and local authorities to exercise caution.

Some other regions are there too that will face the impacts of this rainfall. One of these is Himachal Pradesh and another is Jammu & Kashmir. These regions have suffered a lot due to monsoon rainfall. On the basis of weather predictions of IMD, heavy rainfall along with floods, landslides, and disruptions on roads can be expected in coming days. The weather warning has also been issued for Himachal Pradesh where heavy rainfall is expected in the areas of Kangra, Mandi, Kullu, Shimla, and Sirmaur.

There will be excessive rainfall in some areas of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Orissa, Karnataka, Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya according to IMD. There may be some thunderstorm with lightning and strong wind in most areas, which may cause floods and disturbance in transportation.

Disaster management team has been alerted, and the state government has also informed their district administration regarding the flood-prone area. The emergency team has been told to prepare themselves for the possibility of any flood relief work. People living in the bed of river or streams, and low lying areas have been asked to take precautions in case of rainfall.

IMD has also stated that the active monsoon is expected to continue in the upcoming days and will provide rainfall to many areas of India and will create problems for the regions which face the threat of weather dangers. People should keep themselves informed through weather forecasts and advisories issued by the local administration.
