More than 94% of the 33.14 lakh Delhi voters notified under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls are now cleared for inclusion in the final voter list, according to officials at the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer’s office. Until October 27, 2026, election authorities had processed 31,26,576 cases, which made up 94.34% of the total cases notified. The publication of the final electoral roll will be done by December 4, 2026, once the verification process is completed.
The process of notifying these cases was initiated after discrepancies were found in the voter lists or after officials realized that some electors were not able to be matched to electoral rolls in the previous revision exercise carried out in 2002. The process involves the verification of existing electoral records. Out of the total 33.14 lakh cases, 19.34 lakh cases involved logical discrepancy, such as spellings, mismatch in personal details, and differences in age-related details. The remaining 13.80 lakh cases were of those voters who could not be mapped with the electoral roll of 2002.
In relation to the logic errors, 18,96,675 such cases which constitute 98.05 percent of that category had been disposed of and are ready for inclusion into the final roll. In respect of the category of no mapping, the disposal of 12,29,901 cases had been completed, which constitutes approximately 89.13 percent of the cases in that category. Remaining cases are being processed and disposed of by the election officials who have set the date of November 30 as the last day to dispose of notices. The figures reveal that the exercise of verification has made substantial progress even though certain cases require more scrutiny.
SIR exercise was conducted in Delhi starting from June 30, 2026, with the objective of carrying out a revision and updating of the electoral database. Draft electoral roll which was released on August 31 had a total of 97,53,577 electors which is in contrast to the figure of about 1.45 crore registered voters at the start of the exercise.
In order to make the verification process easier, the election authorities arranged camps at all 14,947 polling stations of Delhi and went around on visits in search of documents from the voters. This was done with an objective of helping the residents to get any discrepancies sorted and clear the formalities. The authorities have also received new applications for registering, rectification and change of address. Residents who are eligible but whose names do not appear in the draft electoral roll can fill in Form 6, while Form 8 can be filled in case of corrections and change of address. The last date of filing claim and objection forms is October 30, 2026.
The office of the Chief Electoral Officer has appealed to residents to go through their details related to voter registration and contact concerned election authorities in case there are any discrepancies. Voters can go ahead and verify their details through official channels of elections and contact their concerned electoral registration officer. It has also been emphasized by the officials that eligible electors must be provided a chance to produce their documents.
The current exercise of updating will be crucial in ensuring that the process of updating the electoral rolls in the state of Delhi progresses successfully and culminates in preparation of the correct electoral rolls. As the rest of the cases are expected to be sorted out by November 30, the electoral board is set to continue the exercise up until the release date on December 4. It is advisable that people keep abreast of developments in order to avoid any problems during the voting period.
