Students in Ranchi Continue Agitation, Demand CBI Probe Into JPSC and JSSC Exam Controversy

Meanwhile, the protests being organized by the candidates aspiring for government jobs in Ranchi have gained momentum, and hundreds of people have demanded an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the irregularities associated with the exams for recruitment conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).

The protestors have organized sit-in and demonstrations, asserting that repeated controversies related to recruitment exams have damaged the reputation of the recruitment process of the state.

In addition to the demand for a CBI investigation on the irregularities, the protestors want more transparency and reforms in the working of the recruitment process of the state.

It is worth noting that the protests have been held in the backdrop of the on-going investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the state regarding irregularities associated with the recruitment process. In recent weeks, CID officials searched the offices of the JPSC, arrested a number of people, and detained some persons in connection with the case.

The issue has also acquired political undertones as the opposition politicians have supported the demands of the students for setting up of an independent inquiry commission, and the rulers have been criticized regarding the handling of this issue. Political discussions have increased the level of heat surrounding this issue, but the students have emphasized that their main intention is to ensure the creation of a credible recruitment process.

While the demonstrations are going on, students have promised to keep fighting for their cause until some concrete steps are taken by the administration. The students feel that ensuring the credibility of the recruitment process of Jharkhand needs an independent inquiry as well as reforms.
