There have been some modifications in NEET PG 2026 exam pattern announced by NBEMS. The changes include a single shift exam, reduction in the number of questions to 180 and Aadhaar authentication for all test-takers. These are the steps taken to ensure transparency and fair exam conditions for aspiring doctors.
The major change includes a switch from multiple shifts to single shift, where all students will be taking the test on the same day. The purpose behind this step is to ensure the elimination of doubts regarding variations in the difficulty levels between the shifts.
In addition to that, there has been an update in the test question paper where the total number of multiple choice questions has been brought down from 200 to 180. However, the total time of the exam which is now a computer-based test has been kept as it was earlier (i.e., 210 minutes or 3 hours and 30 minutes). The existing marking pattern which has four marks for each correct answer and deduction of one mark for each wrong answer will remain the same.
Aadhaar authentication, together with biometric verification, is now mandatory for the examinations in order to improve the process of identification and prevent any kind of impersonation. In addition to that, aspirants can now opt for the availability of increased number of test centers which will be located nearer to the preferred regions of the candidates, hence avoiding travel trouble on the day of the examination.
This examination pattern is a part of many reforms that have been brought about by the NBEMS in order to ensure a more transparent, safe, and candidate-friendly admission procedure. It is recommended that candidates should look through the modified information bulletin and make necessary adjustments in their exam preparation strategy.
