Office Drop as Worldwide Collection Reaches ₹187.48 Crore
The latest comedy entertainer by Akshay Kumar, titled ‘Welcome To The Jungle’
, registered
a major drop in box office collections on its 18th day of release. Early estimates indicate that
the collection of the film fell by 71.1 percent from the previous day, which was an indication
of a regular weekday dip following an initial successful release. However, even with the drop,
the movie has done quite well overall, earning an estimated amount of approximately
₹187.48 crore worldwide.
Produced as the next edition of the successful ‘Welcome’ series, the film showcases an
ensemble cast and promises a combination of comedy and action along with entertainment.
The existing fan following of the franchise and return of Akshay Kumar to the franchise
helped in generating good footfall initially for the movie.
But as the days have gone by, the movie has been competing against the newly released
films as well as the shifting taste of the viewers. Like any other commercial movie, the
collection during weekdays has gone down after the first few days of good performance.
Trade experts say that the success of the movie will depend upon how it fares during the
coming weekend.
Despite the fall in the collection, Welcome To The Jungle is certainly one of the best releases
of Hindi cinema this year. The fact that it has crossed the ₹187 crore mark indicates that
international collection also plays an important role for this movie along with the collection in
India.
However, those who follow the industry know that the next few days will determine how
much money the movie will end up making. Even word-of-mouth and holiday crowds can
help improve collection. On the other hand, people are now praising the comedy, the casting,
and the fact that the movie belongs to the famous Welcome series.
All eyes will be watching to see if Welcome To The Jungle can make some more headway
and get closer to earning ₹200 crores worldwide.
