There has been an enormous growth in the number of Indians choosing Germany as their
destination for pursuing studies in the domain of artificial intelligence (AI), with an incredible
rise of 600% in the number of students who want to pursue courses related to AI. Along with
this, applications from Indian students for these courses have also increased significantly by
370%.
The sudden spike in demand can be attributed to the increasing relevance of artificial
intelligence technology across various sectors such as healthcare, financial services,
manufacturing, automobile, and IT, and with businesses everywhere rushing to adopt AI
technologies, the number of students aspiring for specializations in this field is continuously
rising.
Germany has become an ideal destination for such students owing to the fact that there are
numerous internationally acclaimed universities in the country, an active ecosystem of
research and development, low costs of tuition in many public universities in Germany, and
cooperation between academics and industry in the country.
Apart from that, another aspect that makes Germany especially attractive for Indian students
is the post study work programme which creates more and more job opportunities for skilled
specialists in such fields as artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning, robotics
etc., due to the growth of the country’s digital economy.
According to education experts, the popularity of AI programmes also indicates a change in
the choice of educational priorities among students. Besides regular engineering and
management programmes, many students tend to choose specialised technology courses
corresponding to the trends of the labour market in the world. Universities in Germany have
understood that tendency and increased their master’s programmes on artificial intelligence
and interdisciplinary courses combining computer science, automation and data analysis.
The increase in applications shows that India is paying more attention to its preparation for
the future and the process of international education. With the development of artificial
intelligence all over the world, Germany is gaining its popularity as a country where Indians
can get their knowledge in one of the most promising fields of the world.
