Success is not always dependent on the performance of a student in school. A student may have succeeded if he or she has the determination, dedication, and zeal to learn. The life journey of Tejesh Vaish, a 26-year-old engineer of Lucknow, proves this point. Tejesh was just a Class 5 student who scored 48%, but he ended up studying at IIT Kanpur as well as heading AI Engineering in one of the companies operating from Dubai.

Tejesh Vaish now works at Lumian.ai in Dubai. He is said to earn Rs 2.5 crore annually, showing that early academic performance does not determine the destiny.

From Running a Small Sweet Shop in Lucknow to IIT Kanpur

Tejesh Vaish hails from a modest family in Lucknow, where his father runs a small sweet shop. The academic journey of Tejesh began on a challenging note; class 5 saw him scoring only 48%. However, he eventually covered the distance by scoring approximately 94% in class 10 and 95% in class 12.

How IIT Kanpur Impacted His Career

Tejesh made use of his time at IIT Kanpur by making use of the various internship opportunities, research opportunities, and project opportunities offered by the college. He interned at two companies—Securonix and Texas Instruments—graduating in 2023.

He was also the recipient of the PD Murti Scholarship, which lessened the financial burden on his family during education.

Currently the Head of AI Engineering at Lumian.ai

Tejesh is currently the Head of AI Engineering at Lumian.ai. In this company, he is responsible for leveraging AI technology for different brands that sell their products through Amazon. He is responsible for building AI systems that serve the needs of the customers.

He is also responsible for carrying out the Homeo AI project, which is a support system for homeopathy professionals.

Tejesh’s Message to Students

Tejesh thinks that the IIT degree is not the only option for achieving success in artificial intelligence. Students should acquire skills such as learning Python, SQL, statistics, data structures, and important tools like APIs and Git.

His journey sends a straightforward message—one test result or low marks do not determine their future.
