Gold Soars by Over ₹2,000, Silver Climbs ₹5,000; Latest City-Wise Rates Today

There was a big spike in the prices of gold and silver in the domestic market today, where gold gained over ₹2,000 and silver saw an almost ₹5,000 rise per kilogram. This sudden increase can be attributed to some major global cues, safe-haven demand and uncertainty about geopolitical and economic scenarios.

Market analysts said that the investment demand for gold has risen as a hedge against inflation and volatility in the market. Increasing gold prices globally along with the movement in the US dollar and interest rate expectations of global central banks also contributed to this increase in gold prices.

In India, the prices of 24 carats gold experienced a large hike in most cities in the country, whereas 22 carats gold prices were also seen higher. Similarly, silver prices too rose sharply, recording one of the biggest increases in recent times. Despite the slight variations in the prices due to local taxes and making charges, bullion prices were seen rising all over the country.

Large cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune have posted higher prices of gold and silver compared to the earlier session. It is recommended that people who are thinking about buying jewelry or making an investment must verify city rates before proceeding with their purchase as prices are revised every day as per international market trends and local demand.

Analysts opine that if uncertainty prevails in international markets and there is a high demand for havens, then gold and silver prices might continue to trade at higher prices in the immediate future. However, it is expected that prices of gold might experience some volatility in the coming days because of monetary policy expectations and international economic data.

This current surge in price has been gaining close attention from investors, jewelers, and consumers, considering that the festive season and marriage season are just about to begin. The effect of higher prices on consumption may be witnessed, but it needs to be noted that the demand for gold in India has remained high, given the importance of gold as an investment metal.

Given the continued volatility of bullion markets to any news related to the world, investors have been told to keep themselves abreast of global events, currency movements, and news from the market at home. Precious metals will definitely remain in focus with gold and silver back in vogue as safe-haven investments.
