When talking about India’s competitive entrance exam for engineering is JEE Advanced. And the current JEE Advanced 2026 entrance has been the talk of the town. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Roorkee has calmly disagreed with all the false claims made about mass cheating and clearly stated that the data that is shared online is not true. All these allegations came up just right after the JEE Advanced 2026 results were announced.
On the internet, many candidates who appeared for the entrance posted on their social media handles, informing of a huge gap between the marks they scored in Papers 1 and 2. After coming across this news, a few people made their own assumptions and commented that the examination procedure might not have been done in the right manner, which led to the mass cheating, and showed genuine concerns about these wrong practices. These allegations were supported with score differences and data tables shared online. Although it is not easy to verify the information individually. In this matter, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee mentioned they had gone through the matter carefully, and no clear proof was found that showed any kind of malpractice had happened. The institute also informed that the data which is circulated online does not seem to match any official records, containing false information. The IIT Roorkee said that the ethics of JEE Advanced 2026 remain intact without any malpractices being conducted during any process of the entrance, whether it was result declaration, conducting of the exam, or even during the time of evaluation.
The main topic of discussion was the differences seen in the marks obtained by the candidates in both papers. Speaking on this issue, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee clearly informed that among the candidates under the top 10,000 rank holders, only two of them have raised concerns about the score difference in both papers. The institute highlighted that since the two-paper format became standard, similar disparities have been noticed in previous years. As per authorities, these disparities are not related to any misconduct and are within expected normal norms.
Manindra Agrawal, the director of IIT Kanpur, also commented on the issue, stating that all the claims were a subject of misunderstanding of standard rules. He told in a competitive entrance examination like this, where thousands of candidates appear, small discrepancies like this are natural to occur. He states that odd differences in scores among a small percentage of students are scientifically normal and have remained for years in JEE Advanced records. The justification is made at a point where JEE Advanced 2026 has already been under criticism because of different arguments over information disclosure problems related to candidate records. Authorities repeatedly emphasised that such problems had no impact on test scores, ranking systems, or the enrolment process. IIT Roorkee has argued that the test and result preparation practices were carried out entirely transparently and truthfully.
IIT Roorkee’s official comment intends to assure both applicants and parents that JEE Advanced 2026’s legitimacy is unaffected, as thousands of students are at present getting ready for the consultation and recruitment process. Students and people in general were advised by the institute to depend solely on formal data and to refrain from making judgments based on unreliable material that is circulating online.
