Great news for medical students in Tamil Nadu! The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DME) has allowed the application registration for NEET PG 2025 counselling for 2 additional days. The application registration deadline, which had been supposedly completed by September 16, has now been extended to September 18, 2025.
The extension follows several candidates asking for more time. Now students pursuing postgraduate medical admissions for the 2025–26 academic year will have some extra time to fill in application forms and make payments without having to rush.
Registration Fees and Exemptions
As per the official notification, here are some key points that candidates must remember at the time of applying:
• SC and ST category candidates- they do not have to pay the registration fee.
• All other candidates- the application fee is ₹3,000 plus a registration fee of ₹1,000.
This makes sure that students from disadvantaged categories have easier access to the counselling process. Bond Condition is Still Applicable
The DME has reminded the applicants that the bond condition for Tamil Nadu NEET PG 2025 is still applicable. It is to be noted that if a candidate quits the course after taking admission, they will be required to pay a penalty of ₹15 lakh.
The bond condition was introduced to discourage students from leaving the course, as this process would waste valuable postgraduate seats.
What Will Happen Next in the Counselling Process?
While the registration date is pushed back, there is still no word for the new revised counselling schedule which includes the release date for the merit list, choice filling dates, and the date of seat allocation. Hence, candidates are advised to refresh the official DME Tamil Nadu website on a periodic basis.
What Will Happen Next in the Counselling Process?
The NEET PG journey is a stressful one, and the total number of aspects in the counselling phase adds an extra dynamic of pressure. While it is a small extension, it will help many students who were struggling with payment, documentation issues, or technical issues. Even an extra two days is huge for those students.
The delay in the Tamil Nadu NEET PG 2025 counselling registration deadline has provided relief to the thousands of medical graduates hoping to get into postgraduate seats during the 2025 admission cycle. The students should not wait until the last minute to apply and should submit their applications before September 18, 2025, when they were still experiencing technical issues.
