Hyderabad rain biker dies

Hyderabad Biker Dies After City is Flooded by Heavy Rains as Revanth Reddy conducts Flood Operations

Hyderabad: After rains lashed Hyderabad overnight, flash floods hit several localities of the city, leading to the death of a motorcyclist, who reportedly got washed away in the Balkampet underpass in Begumpet. The deceased Sharafuddin was said to have had flowing water sweep him into a flooded basement. Residents tried to rescue Sharafuddin, but lost sight of him.

The heavy rains caused severe flooding in Hyderabad, with major roads flooded, homes water overflowing, and the city in chaos with bumper-to-bumper traffic in Secunderabad and all low-lying areas. Additionally, household items were washing when people waded through the water to help families trapped in a home.

Furthermore, in light of the flooding, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy instructed the GHMC, HYDRAA, police, traffic, and power department to conduct rescue flooding operations. He also requested low-lying areas to stay indoors and avoid flooded underpasses and drains causing overflow.

Rescue crews arrived onsite to alleviate traffic congestion and move water from major thoroughfares in Hyderabad.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also placed Telangana under a yellow warning for thunderstorms, lightning with gusty surface winds, and heavy rain anticipated for Hyderabad on 18 and 19 September. Moderate and light rain with gusty winds of 40 kmph are also anticipated for Hyderabad and adjacent districts within the next 48 hour forecast period.

Officials are also warning the public to remain vigilant as the city copes with the effects of heavy rains and flooding in Telangana.
